Bellringers' Outing
30 June 2001
On 30 June 2001, the bellringers from St Andrew's
Enfield, together with a few friends from neighbouring churches, went on an outing to
Clacton-on-Sea and the surrounding area.

Craig, our tower captain, and our trusty minibus for the day, kindly lent to us by the
Oakwood Baptist Church

Jane and Craig at St Osyth. We had been told at the previous tower that these bells were
"almost unringable", which was rather worrying, but, while requiring more effort
than some to ring, they weren't at all bad - it all adds character!

Helen, Mary and David also working hard on these bells - Helen doesn't seem entirely
content!

After two towers in the morning we retired to Clacton-on-Sea for an extended lunchtime
break

After we'd eaten, some of us played a game of mini-golf. Craig took an imaginative
approach to negotiating the obstacles on the course, preferring to go over rather than
through them. He and Helen watch as his ball sinks in a watery grave.

Leaving All Saints, Great Holland
Everyone gets there own things out of such an outing. For the non-ringer John Salmon
who came with us, the focus was particularly on taking
photographs of the churches and their
surroundings.
For me it is a combination of good company, a change of scenery, and some pleasant
ringing.
Others take a particular interest in the church organs. Here is a selection:
