Durham with Duke of Gloucester

Stephen's delayed birthday train trip to Durham was with Steam Dreams

Our diesel locomotive Dionysus took us from Finsbury Park to York. Here
at York, a crowd of people waits for the diesel to be taken off and replaced
with our steam locomotive to take us on to Durham

More crowds watch 71000 Duke of Gloucester reverse onto the head of the
train





At Durham, after some lunch we visited the Cathedral. Here a view north, with
the castle sitting in the middle of the peninsula created by a loop of the River
Wear

Back at Durham station, and Duke of Gloucester brings our train from
Newcastle
