Three Days in the Lake District - page 2

30 December 2003 - Beacon Fell and Wool Knott

Another beautiful morning saw an ascent from near Blawith onto Beacon Fell

A view across Blawith Common and Torver Low Common to the Coniston fells

A view to Peel Island, better known to many as Wild Cat Island

Stephen looks to the Coniston fells from the summit cairn

The view of Coniston Water from the summit is excellent

A panorama from the summit - click for larger version

Beacon Tarn from the slopes of its parent fell

An icy bit of path

From Wool Knott, looking across Beacon Tarn to Beacon Fell, with the Coniston fells behind

Down at the lake, another look at Wild Cat Island

Looking north to the head of the lake and Fairfield

On the road to Torver, this beautiful view. A definite contender for the winner of "Best View from a Park Bench".

31 December 2003 - Great Burney

An early morning ascent of Great Burney (just north of the main road over Kirby Moor) revealed this beautiful view north.

Not the clearest of panoramic pictures, but an interesting view nonetheless.

Sun glinting on the Kent Estuary as the day prepares for snow. Time to head south!
