Cholsey & Wallingford Railway
29 June 2008
A busy scene at Wallingford station as City of Truro is readied for
another round trip to Cholsey
The train is taken out of the station for complicated manoeuvres to get City
of Truro on the other end
After our trip to Cholsey, we wait on the platform as trains on the mainline go
by.
Lucy and Henry at Cholsey
With a diesel having taken the carriages out of the way, City of Truro
leaves the platform.
Guinness then brings the carriages back
And City of Truro returns ready to pull us back to Wallingford
Lucy and Henry back at Wallingford
After that we paid a visit to the Kennet & Avon Canal at Aldermaston Wharf
Henry watches as water pours in through a gate paddle into the lock with its
scalloped edges
Below the lock is a lift bridge so there is lots of activity when there are
boats about
A short stroll downstream brings us to Padworth lock
After an ice cream we return to the first lock before heading home
