Suffolk Coast Path

The Suffolk Coast Path runs for about 100 km from Felixstowe to Lowestoft, essentially along the coast but with some significant inland diversions to avoid rivers and other inaccessible sections, particularly those affected by erosion. The path is mostly within the Suffolk Coasts and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and was originally called the Suffolk Coasts and Heaths Path.

There are several points where there are inland and beach alternatives, plus there is the add-on of the Orford Loop (with its alternate finishes at Chillesford and Butley Ferry), so a precise length is somewhat difficult to determine.

I've chosen to start it at Landguard Point, where the rivers Stour and Orwell enter the North Sea, and where the Suffolk coast can be fairly described to start, though the official route starts slightly further north. This was also the point where I finished my walk on the Stour & Orwell Walk, and so they are neatly linked together. I'm also making my walk as far as the Norfolk border, as it seems silly to stop at Lowestoft which is the official northernmost point - perhaps eventually to become moot when the England Coast Path is completed.
